Pet sketches

A friend of mine asked if I could draw their dogs a little while ago and knowing all 3 of their cheeky faces very well I happily agreed. It opened up a whole new love for me and set the ball rolling on a string of other pet based commissions. I love trying to capture their individual personalities! I’m working on a couple at the moment but if you’ve got a furry friend you’d like a picture of, drop me a line!

Pieces at auction

During a recent stay at my mum and dad’s I decided to kill some time and do a bit of sketching. I didn’t have any of my normal equipment with me so had found some children’s water colour pencils and a scrap of left over card which had been lying around. In walked David Dickinson (or the real-life, home-visiting, antique-dealing equivilent!). Mum had invited him round to value some chairs and, finding the whole experience a bit much, I dashed upstairs and hid like a teenager! He spotted my abondoned, half-finished sketch on the dining room table and got very excited.  After mum had proudly shown him as many other examples as she could find he commissioned me there and then to do a piece for him to sell at the next sporting auction! He asked for a pair of boxing hares and I also had a black lab with a pheasant that I had done a little while ago. So, if you happen to be passing Dickins Auctioneers in Buckingham in October, look out for lot numbers 171 and 589! (In case you’re interested the originial sketch is also included here!).

Woodland Wedding

I was completely honored when my friends asked me to draw 15 woodland creatures to be used as table decorations at their wedding. My biggest challenge was trying to think of 15 different animals to use. The only thing the bride was certain of was that she wanted a unicorn as the top table! I had a lot of fun trying to give each one a little personality. I think the cheeky squirrel might’ve been my favourite in the end!
